Tired of chasing prospects who ghost you after the first call?
Here's the thing. Most agencies and consultants approach new business completely backwards. They wait for prospects to come to them, or they send cold outreach that sounds like every other pitch in the inbox.
But what if you could walk into any conversation with proof that you already understand their problems better than their current agency does?
That's where the 10-minute website audit comes in. Give me any website URL and ten minutes, and I'll find something worth charging clients to fix. And I'm going to show you exactly how to do the same thing.
I'm Jeff Sauer, and I've spent twenty years finding these problems in client accounts. I built this process specifically so it takes minutes, not days, because client acquisition shouldn't require a week of unpaid spec work.

In this video, I walk through exactly what a rapid website audit looks like and how to turn what you find into paying work:
What You'll Learn in This Post
- You can find billable problems on any website in 10 minutes using free tools you already have
- Most of what's broken on a prospect's site is visible from the outside, no login required
- Finding the problem is only half the battle; knowing how to have the conversation is what closes deals
- One finding can turn into an ongoing client relationship if you position it correctly

Why External Website Audits Win Client Work
Most of what's broken on a client's site is visible from the outside.
Let that sink in for a second. You don't need their Google Analytics login. You don't need access to their CRM. You don't need a formal agreement or an NDA signed before you can demonstrate value.
Which means the person who finds the problem first and can explain why it matters, that person gets the work.

And here's what most people miss: that person doesn't have to be the incumbent agency. The one already getting paid every month? They might be asleep at the wheel. They might be too busy with other clients. They might not even know the problem exists.
That's your opening.
When you can point at something specific on a prospect's website and explain exactly what it's costing them, you're not pitching anymore. You're consulting. And that's a completely different conversation.
What Makes a 10-Minute Website Audit Valuable
So why ten minutes? Why not a comprehensive multi-day deep dive?
Because speed creates a specific kind of value. When you can identify a real problem in the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee, you prove something important: you know what to look for.

Here's what makes this approach work:
- Free tools only. You're not buying expensive software or requiring special access. Everything you need is already available: browser extensions, publicly accessible data, basic observation skills applied correctly.
- No login required. This matters more than people realize. The moment you need credentials, you've introduced friction. You've created a reason for the prospect to say “let me get back to you.” External audits eliminate that barrier entirely.
- Specificity over volume. You're not generating a 47-page report that nobody reads. You're finding one or two things that actually matter and can actually be explained in a conversation.
The goal isn't maximizing the number of problems you find. It's finding the problem you can make them care about.
The Two-Part Framework: Finding and Selling
Here's where most people leave money on the table.
They find something real, a legitimate problem that's costing the business money or leads or conversions, and then they don't know what to do with it. They email a bullet point. They mention it in passing. They treat the finding like it speaks for itself.
It doesn't.
Finding the problem is only half of the battle. The other half is knowing how to walk into that conversation, explain what you found, and position yourself as the person who fixes it.
Not just the person who noticed it. The person who fixes it.
Part 1: The Discovery
This is the technical piece: what to look for, which free tools to use, how to spot issues that clients will actually pay to have resolved. I demonstrate the whole process live in the workshop.

Part 2: The Conversation
This is where most people choke. You've found something worth mentioning. Now what?
The goal isn't to sound like you're pitching. The goal is to sound like someone who already understands their business well enough to spot what's going wrong. That requires a different approach than “I noticed your website has some issues, want to hop on a call?”

You need to connect the finding to something they actually care about. Revenue. Leads. Competitive positioning. Whatever keeps them up at night.
And, this is the part people really miss, you need to frame the conversation so that one finding turns into ongoing work. Not a one-time fix and a handshake. An actual client relationship that lasts longer than one project.
Why AI Can't Replace This (Yet)
Let's be honest about what's changed.
Anyone can generate a report now. AI spits out audits, summaries, and recommendations by the dozen. You can have ChatGPT analyze a website and produce a PDF that looks official in about three minutes.
Which means that what you find wrong with a prospect's website is worth almost nothing on its own.
The report isn't the product anymore. Maybe it never was.

What still commands a fee is the person who can point at a number and say: this is wrong, and here's what it's costing you.
That's a different skill than vibe coding an audit tool that finds a few errors. It's interpretation. It's business context. It's knowing which of the seventeen problems you could find is the one this specific client will actually pay to fix.
AI can't do that. At least not yet. And even when it gets better at analysis, the human conversation, the part where trust gets built and money changes hands, that's staying human for a while.
Who This Audit Process Is For
You don't need any special tools to do this.
No particular tech stack. No prior experience running audits. No certifications or credentials that say you're qualified.
If you own an agency, work as a consultant, or freelance in any kind of digital marketing consulting capacity, this process is built for you.

Here's who gets the most out of it:
- Agency owners looking for a prospecting approach that doesn't feel like cold calling
- Consultants who want to demonstrate value before contracts get signed
- Freelancers trying to move from one-off projects to retained relationships
- Marketing professionals considering the jump to independent work who need a way to land those first clients
By the end of the workshop, you'll know how to find a problem on any website that a client will actually pay to have fixed, and how to walk into that conversation without sounding like you're pitching.
Watch the Full Workshop Replay
So here's the invitation.
I ran a live training where I pulled up real websites and found real problems on them, live, in about ten minutes each. Actual findings on actual sites, using free tools you already have access to.

Then I showed what to do with them. The client conversation. How to position yourself. How to turn one finding into ongoing work.
The whole session, including the Q&A at the end, is the recording at the top of this post. Nothing is held back.
If you want the tools, the templates and the people behind this process in one place, every workshop, every expert and every live call live under one membership in MeasureU Pro.
Your Next Steps
Your next client's website already has the problem. Probably several of them. The question is whether you're the one who finds it first and knows how to have the conversation that follows.
Here's what to do right now:
- Watch the replay above and follow the three leaks in the order I run them
- Bring a prospect URL and run the same checks alongside the video
- Scan that domain for bot exposure with the free scanner at botexposure.com so you walk in with a number
